Associate Director, Programmatic Media (open to remote from anywhere within CA or NY)

Our client, a top media agency is seeking an Associate Director of Programmatic Media.  Local candidates or those currently in other markets that are looking to make the move to the California or New York area are of high interest; the agency is headquartered in CA but would like to cast a wide net for the best talent!

This position will require deep strategic experience across the digital landscape (Digital Video, Paid Social, Connected TV, Streaming Audio) inclusive of Programmatic and some previous experience working hands on in DSP platforms. This is more of a strategic role; does planning and makes sure executional part (that buyers are doing) is consistent with the strategy. This role is geared more to be client facing, interacting with the Acct Management Team and communicating with the clients, and those at the DSPs themselves.  This position will oversee a team so previous management experience is required. Excellent project management, technical and communications skills, and attention to detail are required.


  •  Responsible for overall strategy, execution, pacing, margin, optimization and performance for all audience extension campaigns run by the digital team 
  • Ability to develop targeting briefs, strategic concepts & tactical plans 
  • Ability to take the lead on owning high profile campaigns & testing on new platforms/digital channels 
  • Work closely with ad operations, media planning and product management leads to make sure all needs are being met 
  • Develop training materials, process documentation and best practices 
  • Plan and execute campaign case studies in liaison with analytics team to be shared with marketing and sales teams 
  • Assist in the evaluation of new technologies 
  • Improve existing audience extension media offerings


Job Requirements

Desired Skills and Experience:

  •  7+ years of experience in digital media 
  • 2+ years of experience/knowledge of programmatic media buying & strategy, from agency or ad tech 
  • Strong ability to manage projects, timelines and lead a team of media professionals 
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint 
  • Strong ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, and work under pressure to meet deadlines 
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and training skills 
  • Establish, maintain and grow collaborative working relationships across the organization 
  • Demonstrated pro-active thinking with creative problem-solving skills and maximizing budgets 
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment 
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in an ever-changing environment while meeting tight deadlines
